Abstract

Among the principles of the Social Doctrine of Church, the main and fundamental one is the human person. Man, created in the image and likeness of God, is the root and foundation of human dignity. At the same time, this becomes the source and foundation of human rights and duties. The ultimate source of human rights is not to be found in the will of human beings, in the reality of the State or in the public authorities, but in man himself and in God, his Creator, and in natural law.
