Educating in hope. Guidelines from Benedict XVI’s Spe salvi
Keywords:
hope, education, Benedict XVI, Spe salviAbstract
In contrast to modern conceptions that reduce hope to human or political projects, Ratzinger affirms its theological character and its roots in love and faith. Christian hope transforms the present life, orients us toward eternal life, and sustains moral action even in the face of frustration and suffering. We aim to present Benedict XVI’s vision of christian hope and its importance for the integral formation of the person. Spe salvi outlines the main “places” where hope is learned and exercised, such as educational environments that strengthen the human capacity to live meaningfully. Educating in Christian hope is essential for forming people capable of facing reality with confidence and spiritual depth.
