Abstract

If the common mortals lie, Prince will do so, Machiavelli advised. The human species, like any other, depends on the selfpreference, argues Jeremy Bentham. Such doctrines, that take for granted certain forms of corruption are functional to political (and economic) theory of the “possessive individualism” (Macpherson), as they are based on a biased realism. On the other hand, Kant proposed an epistemic order to achieve perpetual peace, which would prevent the increase of forced migration. Such a proposal it is related to a political theory of “communicative personalism”, which was inspired by Vitoria, and to a “guarantist realism”.
