The problem of God has not been considered in an unambiguous manner over time. In this reflection has not only changed the answers, but also the proposals of the problem, the object-God is itself problematic, since it is not an object of experience in the strict sense. So-called “evidence” for the existence of God, both retrospectively, like St. Thomas, as a priori, as the ontological argument of Anselm, are typical of the medieval period. The issue takes on a new dimension in contemporary philosophy: the Spanish philosopher Xavier Zubiri (1898-1983) brings back the theme of man. To paraphrase Heidegger, Zubiri holds that human existence is not “thrown” in the world but is “relegated” for their roots. Religion is therefore formally a constitutive dimension of human existence and what we are religated we call God. This is the fundamental assumption, according to the author, to raise the issue of God in contemporary philosophy according to the proposal of his work In regard to the problem of God.
