Notas en la construcción del lenguaje escolástico como lectura lineal de lo real

This contribution sets off from its agreement with the proposal formulated by Umberto Eco in “The line and the labyrinth”, where the Italian semiotic goes over the fundamental differences between the Greek modus cogitandi that extends like a rhizome or labyrinth and the Latin that is lineal and reaches its peak in the prime of Scholastics. In the second part, the main, the author illustrates the linearity characteristic of the scholastic vision of reality through the analysis of some examples in Latin. For that purpose, she relies not only in the lexicographic aspect of Latin but also in the morphological, syntactical and even oral dimensions. Finally, some observations are made about the modification of the language of philosophy during the scholastic crisis. Such observations support in an oblique way the thesis of linear reading of Latin by the scholastics in the XIII century.
