Abstract

This research attempts to track the influence that the Platonic Principles theory, including its different formulations, had on the thought Origen of Alexandria. The reading, affinity and high esteem on which Origen – as a Christian – held the platonic authors is evidenced in his texts and in historical sources. He adopts and assimilates several aspects of the doctrine and terminology used by Plato´s followers partly thanks to a previous synthesis made by Philo of Alexandria. However, Origen departs from them in some paramount aspects of the conception of the Divine and the creation of the world.
