Abstract

The Christian conception of God is without a doubt different from the Greek any time the Holy Books state that there is only one God, the creator of  everything that exists. However, even basing themselves on the content of the revelation, Christian thinkers devised from the beginning an intellectual understanding of the God they believed in. Yet, this rational thought that even used Greek philosophical notions, had a completely peculiar character. Three have been the essential characteristics of the Judeo-Christian God: identity with Being, omnipotence and infinitude. We will go through that thought from the early theology of the Pantocrator to the medieval metaphysics of the Exodus and the understanding of God as infinitum in contrast with the limitation of the creatures.
