Supuestos y dilemas de un horizonte problemático

Abstract

Augustine’s perception of time as distentio animi in Confessions XI has a complex theoretical foundation regarding both the previous problematic issue at hand and the doctrines found in the specifi ed solution without denying or reducing its originality. On the other hand, said issue allows us to emphasize Augustine’s contribution. We are interested in highlighting two elements within the problematic issue. The first one is the Stoic conception of the three instances of time and the perception of time as intangible. The second one is the criticism to the academic skepticism about the entirety of time as a being given the inexistence of each of the parts of this entirety; in the case of time, the aporias are established as such according to the being of past, present and future. In both cases, the problematic issue is presented as a dilemma about the relationship between temporality and being. We consider that Augustine’s arguments can corroborate their argumentative consistency since they are presented as proper answers to the problem at hand . Furthermore, the examples and comparisons within the problematic issue and the texts that belong to it allow us to highlight such consistency.
