Abstract

The books owned by friar Gregorio de Cartagena and friar Francisco de Ribera, friars of Order of Mercy, are a window for knowing one part of their activities; the first one, was a parish priest in San Miguel village at Bishopric of Guatemala; the second one, was Bishop of Michoacán. The documents used in this article help us to respond the next questions: Which books did these Mercedarian friars have in their personal libraries? What do these books say about the activities of the Mercedarian friars? Which Mercedarian authors did circulate among Mercedarian friars?
