Abstract

The present article analyzes the way an emergent Catholic laity participated in the Buenos Aires and national parliaments between 1855, when Félix Frías returned to Buenos Aires after his years of exile, until the 1880s, when the advanced secularist government of Julio Argentino Roca began. Focusing on the case of Frías, as the main representative of this nascent Catholic laity, it studies the specifics of his legislative interventions throughout those years.
