The 1992 constitutional reform in matters of worship in Mexico was a relevant event considering that, for the first time in the nation's history, religious denominations, including the Catholic Church, obtained legal recognition. The consequences of this change, among many issues, reconfigured the economy of the Mexican Catholic Church under a new legal framework. In particular, in this text there is evidence of continuity towards a regime of dissimulation between the government and the Catholic Church that has characterized the dynamics prior to 1992 and that continues to this day. At the same time, a process of rupture was developed through the implementation of a new legal framework headed by Religious Associations.
