Among the associations founded by the Dominican Fray Ángel María Boisdrón OP, we find the Brotherhood of St. Joseph of the “Good Death” introduced in Tucumán in the late nineteenth century. The aim of this work is to analyze the reasons for the creation of this association beginning with its name, trying to approach the nineteenth century devotional experience around the figure of St. Joseph and the “Good Death” and focusing on the concepts of death and purgatory. Also, I intend to reconstruct the life of this association, its members and its work in the community from the sources found in the Dominican files of Tucumán (the Books of Acts, the Cash Book, Accounting Books and a folder with the Luminaries).
